He hates Chinese, which she loves. Or maybe one of them snores so loudly at night that the other is often woken up. The problem with a snoring partner is that normally it’s the partner who doesn’t snore who loses sleep over the noise, which can become incredibly frustrating. A person who is frustrated and lacking sleep is not fun to deal with.

So, what do you do about sleeping with someone who snores? Well, there are a few solutions. One of the best is to get a white noise machine for your bedroom. This type of machine will fill the room with white noise. Often, it won’t totally cover the worst of the snoring, but it will mask the way that your brain hears the sound, which means that you’re less likely to be awakened by it. White noise machines are commonly used for babies, but they can be incredibly helpful for couples who are struggling with the problem of snoring.

Another good solution might be to go to bed at different times. If the non-snoring partner is a heavy sleeper, then snoring might not be a problem after she’s already asleep. Trying to fall asleep by someone who is sawing logs, though, can be a frustrating and futile endeavor. So, the partner who doesn’t snore should hit the sack half an hour or more before the snorer so that she can fall asleep first and stay asleep through the noise.

These two techniques, the white noise machine and the different bedtimes, can help many couples deal with the problem of snoring. Of course, if the problem is severe or continues for a long time, it might be a good idea to check out the snoring partner for conditions like sleep apnea.

Sleepwellbaby recommends these popular sound machines:

SM-980A White Noise Machine by Marpac

Homedics - SoundSpa Portable Sound Machine

S-550-05 Sound Conditioner by Sound Oasis

Self-Adjusting Sound Machines

Whether you’re three months old or thirty years old, getting and staying asleep at night can be tough. If you live in the city, you might get woken up by things like siren noises, loud neighbors, and backfiring cars. Even if you live in the middle of nowhere, you still have to content with tractor noises during planting and harvest and animal noises in the middle of the night. Instead of suffering from noises like these, though, you can use a sound machine to mask the night’s annoying noises so that you can fall asleep and stay asleep.

Using some sort of sound machine to create white noise or even just turning on a box fan in the bedroom at night is an old way to drown out disruptive background noises and stay asleep. While these approaches can be somewhat effective, you can still hear particularly loud noises above the white noise. Your fan or quiet radio can drown out soft noises and far-away noises, but the sound of your neighbor’s dog barking at three in the morning will jump out beyond that noise, waking you up or at least making your sleep less deep and restful.

Luckily, new technology has created a great new sound machine that can automatically adjust to your surroundings. The Ecotones Duet by Adaptive Sound Technologies provides this new technology. This type of machine will play whatever type of white noise you find most soothing, whether it’s natural night noises, running water, or just a fan-like noise. Instead of just feeding you noise, though, this sound machine will read the noises coming in from the surrounding area. If the noise around you grows louder, the machine will increase in volume to mask the new noises.

Even though a white noise machine can become pretty loud to drown out unexpected background noises, it still won’t wake you up because it will be that same sound you’ve grown used to. If you’re having trouble staying asleep even with your traditional white noise maker, one of these machines might be your perfect solution.

Drowning Out the Night

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be hard enough to sleep without having to worry about background noises that keep you awake. The backfiring car down the road can wake you up with a start, and the cat’s yowling at each other outside can keep you from falling asleep in the first place. You could sleep with earplugs, which can be annoying since you will either lose them halfway through the night or won’t be able to hear your alarm clock in the morning, or you could check you some sound machines to give you relief from the nighttime sounds that are keeping you awake.

Sound machines come in many different varieties, shapes, and sizes, but they all use soft background noises to drown out the more disturbing noises of the night. These types of machines usually use several different sound frequencies, which allows them to drown out different types of noises.

When you’re choosing a sound machine, you should think about your personal preferences in white noise. If you don’t want to be distracted at all, you might want to choose a machine that masks sounds with a radio-static-like noise, which won’t be distracting since it doesn’t bring any particular pictures to mind. If you want to calm yourself down with visions of a soothing environment, try sound machines that use waterfall noises or ocean wave noises to both soothe your mind and drown out background noises throughout the night.

If you just have trouble falling asleep, you might want to look at sound machines with automatic shut off functions. They’ll run for a couple of hours until you’re deeply asleep, and then they’ll turn themselves off so as not to waste electricity. If you’re a very light sleeper who is constantly waking up to small noises, though, you might want to check out the sound machines that run all night so that the noises that wake you are drowned out even after you’re asleep.

Check out these popular white noise sound machines:

SleepMate 980a by Marpac

S-550 by Sound Oasis

Sound Spa by Homedics

Baby Sound Machines for Big Kids

If you’re a parent, you probably know the value of baby sound machines that fill your infant’s room with white noise when he’s trying to sleep. These machines are soothing to the nerves, and because they drown out background noises, they can help a baby fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. You can buy many different machines, from super-small one-speaker affairs to larger machines that give you several different white noise options for your child. Did you know, though, that you can actually use baby sound machines for your older children or for yourself?

It’s not only babies that have trouble sleeping when random noises keep interrupting their sleep cycles. Older children can have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, and so can adults. While it’s common to use box fans in a child’s room or in your own bedroom, baby sleep machines might actually be a better idea for both older children and adults for a few reasons.

For one thing, the technology behind these sleep machines makes them more soothing. The research that these machines are founded on ensures that they actually give out noises that are soothing to almost everyone. This means that the sounds are inherently soothing and are good for more than just masking background noises like a fan will do.

Plus, baby sound machines are more compact than fans, which means they’re easier to move around. If you go to a hotel or a relative’s home to stay for a while, you can more easily pack a small sound machine than a large box fan, which means you and your children will sleep as well away from home as you do at home. Besides this, though, sound machines are going to be easier to clean than box fans. Instead of disassembling them to get all the dust off the blades, you just have to wipe them down with a dry cloth every so often.

White Noise Machines and Tinnitus

Tinnitus is a condition in the ears that many, many people experience at some point in their lives. Basically, it can manifest as a ringing or humming in the ears that you just can’t get rid of, and it can be really distracting, especially when you’re trying to fall asleep. White noise machines, which are often used to help babies and insomniacs get to sleep and stay asleep, can mask the sound of your tinnitus, which will help you fall asleep.

White noise machines come in many different varieties. Some will put out sounds like soft radio static that use lots of different frequencies at once to mask all kinds of sounds, and others will use soothing natural noises, often the sound of water falling or the ocean waves. The type of white noise you need can actually be determined in part by a tinnitus specialist, who can test the noises in your ears and help you figure out which type of sound will mask them best.

Using white noise machines to distract yourself from the random noise in your head when you’re trying to sleep is a great way to help you fall asleep. You can also use white noise machines when you’re trying to concentrate. Sometimes the noise from the machine that masks your tinnitus is just as distracting as the tinnitus itself, but many people find that this mechanical noise is less distrac ting and actually helps them function better.

Over time, the use of white noise machines can actually help put your tinnitus into a sort of remission. Some types of this disorder are curable by various means, and some are not. Scientists have actually found that tinnitus might abate in people who use white noise machines on a regular basis for a while. Sometimes the tinnitus comes back, but you can always use the machine again for a while if it does.

Sound machines are designed to provide help for tinnitus sufferers.

$25 Rebate – Ecotones Duet Sound Machine!

Give your love the gift of sleep this Valentine’s Day and throughout the month of February!

As an authorized Ecotones Reseller, Sleepwellbaby is pleased to invite customers to participate in this special rebate program during the month of February. Instead of $149.95, your cost will be $124.95 (after rebate). The Ecotones Duet is one of the newest and most technologically advanced sound machines on the market today. The Ecotones Duet Sound Therapy Machine "listens" continuously to the user's background for any unwanted or disruptive sounds. The unit responds in less than a tenth of a second by re-mixing it’s sounds. Or it may simply adjust the volume levels to neutralize the intrusion, but in a manner that is not invasive. Ecotones Duet Adaptive Sound Machine is different than traditional white noise sound machines because of the naturally recorded sounds that are up to 30 minutes in length. This effectively stops the annoying repetitious playback or loops which some find ineffective for sound machines.

Place your order today…while supplies last!

White Noise Machines – The Cure for Insomnia?

People are willing to do some crazy things to their bodies just to get a good night’s sleep. People are willing to subject themselves to drugs, holistic therapy and many other questionable activities just to be able to sleep like an ordinary person. Who can blame them? When you are sleep-deprived you are not functioning at 100%. You may feel nervous, shaky or even slightly delusional.

This is why the White Noise machine is such an interesting innovation. One of the most interesting White Noise products is the Ecotones Duet Adaptive Sound Machine manufactured by Adaptive Sound Technologies.

This sound machine is designed with high-tech features to help you sleep better by way of blocking out background noise. This machine can also control the depth and complexity of its sounds. Its recordings are natural and relaxing. All recordings are in ultra-high quality.

What separates these sound machines from a typical CD of relaxing sounds is that the machine “listens” to the background noises around you and automatically responds to disruptive sounds. The unit remixes sounds and adjusts the volume so that the intrusive sound is minimized to the point that it is virtually eliminated. Because all sounds are natural you don’t have to worry about the machine playing annoying or alarming sounds, even if the sounds around you are distracting.

Every unpleasant sound that you can imagine, from dog barks to airplanes, to noisy neighbors, can be minimized with such a machine. You can imagine how important such a product is to a family with a new baby. Babies need their rest and so a baby sound machine is the ideal way to help a baby sleep. It is also a safer way for adults to fall sleep without the use of sedatives.

This product is appropriate for people of all ages who wamt to get a good night of sleep! This is a productive and healthy way to get your sleeping schedule back on track.

Sleepwellbaby is proud to be an authorized seller of the Ecotones Duet Sound Machine. Great prices and free shipping is available.

White Noise Machines - Is There Any Risk?

Sleepless nights – we've all had them before. What causes sleepless nights? It could be a variety of factors. Sometimes a lack of good quality sleep can be stress related. Sometimes it can be due to excessive activity right before bed. However, often times we are distracted because of noise. Whether it's a dog barking, cats fighting or even neighbors having a tiff, these noises are very intrusive.
Babies in particular have a difficult time falling asleep. If a baby is restless or becomes scared he or she will cry until a parent comes to provide comfort. However, if a baby is relaxed throughout the night, he or she will not feel the need to cry for help. This is where a white noise machine can help.
A white noise sound machine is a doctor - created and doctor - recommended alternative to drugs and other therapies. Instead of forcing the body to become sleepy, the system uses natural and relaxing sounds to bring about a peaceful state of mind and then a deep sleep.
These new generation sound machines go a step beyond simply paying relaxing sounds on CD. This high-tech baby sleep machine offers more than just looped recordings. It actually mixes complementary sounds into the soundtrack in response to external noises. These are interactive machines that actually adjust their volume and their choice of sound based on the external sounds around the room. Therefore, a baby who would ordinarily be distracted by a dog barking could rest deeply with the help of a system like the Ecotones Duet Sound Machine. The dear child would never even hear the noise, since the system would tune it out. The Ecotones Duet is able to automatically modulate its volume to mask the distracting sound. The Ecotones Duet is perfect for babies, children and adults!
These sound conditioners are affordably priced and a safe alternative to drugs, hypnosis, holistic herbs and any other therapy out there you might imagine. There’s no better way to fall asleep than listening to beautiful sounds of nature!

Sound-Oasis Sound Therapy System S-650-01 - The Ultimate White Noise Machine

White noise is the opposite of "noise", the unwanted distractions that you always seem to hear when you are trying to get a good night's sleep. Whether it's a barking dog, heavy traffic or even Fourth of July celebrations, there always seems to be something happening. What if there was a way to ensure a good night’s sleep without the use of drugs? While people usually don't think of giving medication to very young children for a good night's sleep, they will often subject their own bodies to some strange substances.
White Noise machines could very well be the solution you need. The Sound Oasis Sound Therapy System S-650-01 is a high-tech device that serves as a sound conditioner as well as a sound machine. This machine has two sound cards: a relaxation sound card and a spa retreat card. This equals 24 relaxing sounds in total!
This is the only sound machine that uses sound card technology. It lets users change their sound themes by inserting a new memory card. The most relaxing and natural sounds can help you fall asleep in a short period of time. Some of the most popular sounds include an ocean surf, falling rain, a stream, woodlands, thunderstorms, chimes, Hawaiian surf, late night, and other new age aural white noises
The high technology of this system allows users of all ages to experience realistic and relaxing sounds that will help them fall asleep in a short while. You can also program the system to wake you up with a buzzer or with practically any other sound you choose.
As you can imagine, these sound machines can be of equal value to parents with children or even single adults who have problems sleeping. Of course, they would consider it, but probably not do it. Nothing is worth the life of your child, right? Yet it's startling how many young children and full grown adults still rely on medication to relieve their symptoms of insomnia. What if there was a way to sleep that didn't involve medication or holistic therapy?

The Homedics SoundSpa, a sound machine, is a white noise device that plays natural and relaxing sounds for babies, children and adults alike. The listener concentrates on the sounds and then eventually falls asleep. This particular model has a few natural aural environments: heartbeat, an ocean, rain, a waterfall, a rain forest and a summer night.
These devices are natural in that they put nothing foreign into the body. They simply relax the baby using peaceful sounds. You don't have to worry about trauma. It is the virtual equivalent of singing and cooing your baby to sleep every night. The only difference is that the white noise machine lets you and the baby get a full night of sleep simultaneously!
These devices are actually recommended by doctors for problems with insomnia and tinnitus. These sounds can mask unwanted noise around the room and even outside the house. The system can have continuous play or can shut off automatically within 13-60 minutes.
The system is easy to carry and lightweight so you can travel with it. You will never have to worry about a fussing baby when driving home with the Homedics SoundSpa. (Just don't listen to it while operating a moving vehicle!) Parents love this small, affordable white noise machine.
This item has a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. You have nothing to lose here (since the item is very affordable) but a lot to gain - namely a good night's rest. The Homedics sound machine is the exact same sound machine as the one manufactured by ObusForme. However, the ObusForme brand is no longer available in the U.S.
Shop the Homedics Sound Machine here.

New Baby Sleep Machine - Graco Sweet Slumber Sound Machine

Imagine if there was a way to help your baby fall asleep - in spite of all the distracting sounds around your home? Every night, there seems to be some type of distraction happening. If there's not a neighbor fight happening outside, there's a helicopter flying by. Sometimes even human voices, from outside the room or a TV set, can be distracting.
A White Noise machine can help your baby (or a person of any age) quickly fall asleep usually within just a few minutes. One popular baby sleep machine is the Graco - Sweet Slumber Sound Machine. How does the Graco sound machine work? This is a high quality sound machine and it plays 12 selections of "white noise" that can help relax a baby's nerves. These sounds consist of lullabies, nature voices and other pleasant sounds. You can even record your own voice (always of comfort to a newborn) using an MP3 player plug in port. After the child falls asleep, the system turns itself off.
White Noise machines actually react to noises and distractions that are happening around the room. These sound stories actually react to noises by increasing volume or changing the type of sound that occurs. This results in the listener "tuning out" distracting sounds to the point where they are not even heard.
A baby sound machine can help a child go to sleep in a short period of time. This is a completely healthy and natural way to help your baby sleep. You don't have to worry about any drugs affecting the newborn’s health. Neither must you spend hours (cutting down on your own sleep) just to calm a startled baby.
These sound machines are very affordably priced. The Graco unit is less than $100 when purchased online. These sound conditioners are operated with batteries (4 AA type) or an a/c adapter which is included.

White Noise for Babies

If you're having trouble getting your new baby to sleep, you are certainly not alone. Thousands of parents across the world are dealing with fussy or colicky babies right now, and sometimes they're dealing with babies who have trouble falling asleep for no apparent reason.

While at first it can be a fun idea to rock your baby to sleep every night - this might even become a part of your bedtime routine - it's not fun anymore when you have to be holding or rocking your baby for him or her to sleep at all. You end up losing even more sleep than new parents typically do, and your baby starts to build unhealthy sleeping habits that may end up making him have trouble falling asleep without assistance for years to come.Instead of dealing with all the fallout of these infant sleep troubles, why not try giving your baby a healthy way to fall asleep? One way to start building good, healthy sleeping habits is to put a sound machine in your baby's room. These machines, which are easy to find in today's market, come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and price ranges. Many of them play different types of sounds for your baby to fall asleep to.

These machines are effective for a couple of reasons. First, they drown out small background noises that might be waking your lightly-sleeping baby up when he is first falling asleep, and second, they simulate the type of white noise your baby would have been constantly surrounded by in the womb.
No matter how hard you try to keep your house quiet when the baby is trying to sleep, you can't get rid of all the noises. The stairs might creak when you're going up and down, or the dog might start barking at the mailman. If you have other, older children, keeping the house quiet is even more difficult. A sound machine can help mask these noises so that your baby doesn't hear them and startle awake just as she's falling asleep.
Check out this article which discusses that white noise is safe for babies.

LiveJournal Tags: White noise for baby,Baby sleep machine,Baby sound machine,Sound machine

Using a Sleep Machine as Part of Your Baby's Sleep Routine

For most babies, routine is a huge part of the learning process. Babies like to have an eating routine and a napping routine, and it can be a good idea to have a bedtime routine, too. In fact, even most adults benefit from having a routine that starts an hour or so before bedtime, and starting habits like these with your baby when he's young can help him figure out how it works when he's older.

There are several things that you might consider including in your baby's bedtime routine, and they totally depend on your preferences and your baby's preferences. You might want to use a swing or carry the baby around in a sling for a while, or you might give the baby a warm bath each night. If you and your baby like to rock, you can try rocking and either talking to the baby or singing to her for a while, either until she falls asleep or until she is sleepy enough to transfer to her crib.
There are plenty of other things that you can consider working into your baby's nightly routine. One such thing is your baby's sleep machine. These nifty little devices mimic womb noises, heartbeat noises, and other soothing white noise that helps your baby fall asleep and stay asleep. Instead of simply turning the machine on before you leave the room after your baby is in his crib, consider working it into your routine.
If your baby needs to be snuggled for a while before he'll sleep, try snuggling in his room after you switch the sleep machine on, as this might help him calm down faster. The same thing goes for babies who like to be rocked or put in mechanical swings for a while. Pretty much no matter what you're doing to calm your baby down, you can turn on the sleep machine in the background.
If your baby is really wound up, you can even move the machine into the bathroom as you give her a bath before bed. You can listen to the soothing background noises while you feed her, dress her in her pajamas, or swaddle her. The noises will only make the going-to-sleep process simpler and, hopefully, a little bit quicker.
Besides this, a sleep machine may help your baby sleep through the night more soundly, as it can drown out background noises that might startle her awake, and it can help soothe her back to sleep if she wakes up on her own.
Check out these great baby sound machines:

Marpac LifeSounds 440
Marpac SleepMate 980a
Lulla-Bear Infant Soothing Sound Machine

del.icio.us Tags: White noise machines,Baby sleep machine,Baby sound machine,Sound machines,Sound machine

Sound Machines for Babies

In this day and age, there are about a million gadgets for babies that did not exist even five years ago. You may walk through the baby aisle at your local supermarket and gaze around wondering how any parent could justify packing a nursery with that much stuff, and you are probably right. Many of the new things for babies on the market are expensive and silly, but there are some things that, even though they are new, every nursery needs: sound machines.
These nifty little devices come in many of shapes and sizes. Some of them play music and white noise, and some of them only play soothing background noises that help drown out household noises. Some of the machines light up, and some do not. Some of them plug into the wall, and some of them use batteries. Some of them look like little new-age speakers, and some of them come as cuddly stuffed animals.
There are so many choices that you may be baffled when you get to the store's section for sound machines. Do not, however, worry about too many of these extra features, as there are only a few things that you should ask yourself before purchasing a sound machine for your baby.
First off, check to be sure that the machine is safe for your baby. If you are buying a stuffed animal, it should not have any pieces that can come off, and any machines that plug into the wall should plug in securely and not have any exposed wires. Research suggests that white noise is safe for babies.
Secondly, check that the machine you choose will fit in your nursery. If your baby will only have a small space to live in, you do not want to buy a huge machine, but if your baby's room is large, you will want to buy one that is powerful enough to fill the whole room with soothing white noises.
Thirdly, be sure that the machine is washable. Anything in your baby's room is up for a good dirtying either now or down the road, so you'll want to get machines you can wipe off easily or stuffed animals you can disassemble and toss in the washing machine.
Other than this, the sound machines that you choose for your baby are really up to your preference. As long as the machine makes soothing noises, it can be used to help your baby sleep better, and it will, in turn, help you get a better night's rest, too. Sounds like a pretty good investment, for all that it is a newfangled gadget.
Check out these great sound machines for babies and children:

Cloud b Sleep Sheep
Marpac Lifesounds 440
Cloud b Dozy Dolphin

Tags: White noise machines, White noise machine, Sound machines, Sound machine for babies, Sound conditioners

Sleep Machines VS. Fans

If you've done the new baby thing before, you know that getting an infant to fall asleep and stay asleep is a big deal, and you may know that it's a little easier if there is some white noise in the background. White noise can mimic the sounds a baby heard in the womb, and it can drown out startling noises in and around the baby's room. Maybe you've used a box fan before to serve this purpose, but there are several reasons that an actual sleep machine might be a better choice.

First off, many sleep machines take less energy to run than box fans. Sure, having that box fan on for twelve hours a day probably isn't running your electricity bill off the charts, but who can’t afford to save a few dollars a month right now? Many sleep machines are battery-operated, and the ones that do plug in may take a lot less energy to run than a large box fan.
Secondly, sleep machines could be safer for your baby. In general, babies are fascinated with fans, and as soon as they can crawl, they like to stick their hands through those very interesting-looking grates. The chances of your baby actually getting his hands to the fan blades are slim, but he could easily pull the fan over on himself or otherwise hurt himself with the fan.

Sleep machines, on the other hand, are pretty innocuous. Most of them look like speaker boxes, and some of them are even stuffed animals with all the electronic parts zipped up inside. Besides that, they are typically smaller than box fans, so they can be set on an out-of-the-way shelf that baby can’t get to easily.

Another good reason sleep machines are better than fans is that they are usually easier to clean. It's much easier to get all the dust off of a little plastic box than it is to pull the fan apart and clean the blades. As you know, the dust on that fan can carry dust mites and other tiny things that can make the air quality in your baby's room lesser, so it’s easier on you and your baby to have a piece of equipment you can clean easily. Sound machines are safe for babies.
Finally, sleep machines simply offer you more options than box fans do. Many of them come with different types of white noise sounds, and some even have hookups so that you can play songs through them, which can be fun for in-room dance parties when your baby is a toddler!

Check out these great sound machines for babies and children:

Dozy Dolphin Sound Machine
Lulla-Bear Infant Soothing Sound Machine
Gund – My First Nighty Nights Musical Bear

del.icio.us Tags: Sound Machines,Sleep Machines,Sleep Machine

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.sleepwellbaby.com/v/vspfiles/blog/2009/11/sleep-machines-vs-fans.html' title='Sleep Machines VS. One thing you should consider investing in, though, is a sleep sound machine, which can help your baby sleep soundly through the night. There are several reasons you might want to get a machine like this, including some of the following.
First off, if your baby is a light sleeper, this machine could be a big help. Maybe you don’t have much trouble getting your little one to fall asleep, but he wakes up every time there is a noise nearby. This can be frustrating, especially if you have other children who, well, make a lot of noise. A sleep sound machine can fill your baby’s room with soothing white noise, which can drown out other sounds so that he no longer wakes up every time your toddler jumps on the stairs or yells your name.
Secondly, if you have trouble getting your baby to sleep, this can be a very good investment. A sleep sound machine will help mimic the watery sounds that the baby is used to hearing in the womb, which can have a soothing, calming effect on your baby. If your baby is constantly in need of rocking, walking, or back-rubbing to fall asleep, you might try to see if a sleep sound machine works instead.
This is especially important at this stage because this is when you start building your baby’s sleeping habits. Babies who fall asleep without assistance turn into toddlers who fall asleep without assistance, which makes your life a whole lot easier. Most babies need a little bit of help at the beginning, but a sleep sound machine can give them that help, and it can keep on helping as your baby grows up, ensuring that she ends up in your bed a little less often.
Finally, if you simply live in a loud home or a loud area, a machine like this can be a great idea. Even babies who sleep soundly may wake up to dogs barking or sirens blaring on the nearby highway, but, again, a sleep sound machine can help drown out and soften these noises, ensuring that your baby falls asleep and stays asleep so that you can do the same.
There are many great sound machines on the market that are perfect for babies and children such as:

SleepMate 980a

Cloudb Gentle Giraffe

Sleep Sheep

A Marriage Saver and A Good Night's Sleep in One

What's worse than not being able to fall asleep at night? Listening to your spouse snore all night! If there is even the tiniest bit of light in the room it throws me off and I can't stay asleep or get back to sleep if I wake during the night. I have found that the best way to achieve a dark room all night long is to use an eye mask.

Sweet Dreams Eye Mask by Dream Essentials is light as a feather, slim-line and very stylish, the Sweet Dreams Sleep Eyemask is a molded, contoured sleep aid that offers full comfort without any pressure to the eyes.

The Sweet Dreams Sleep Eyemask conveniently folds away into a complimentary drawstring carry pouch which is perfect for traveling. That is, if I can sleep. While at home, I use a SleepMate 980 every night to block out the annoying sound of my husband's snoring. It works like magic. So you can imagine that I was a little nervous about sleeping outdoors without my white noise machine. Then a friend told me about the Sound Oasis Travel Sound Conditioner. I purchased it and decided to test it out on our first camping trip over Memorial Day weekend. It worked like a charm. The white noise setting was all that I needed to help me fall asleep while it totally blocked out my husband's snoring.

The Sound Oasis Travel sound conditioner is a compact design (perfect for travel) that allows users to drift off to sleep with soothing nature sounds and wake up to one of four alarm sound types (sound, jet lag reduction sound, voice memo or buzzer). Powered by 4 "AA" batteries or the included AC adapter, the Sound Oasis Travel Sound Conditioner is ideal for use while traveling or at home. It has 17 authentic, high fidelity built-in sounds: Ocean Surf, North Woods, Thunderstorm, White Noise, Night Train, Spring Rain, Island Surf, Bonfire, Stream, Hidden Cove, Wind, Asian Garden, Song Birds, Harbor Swell, Bamboo Chimes, Summer Night, Cooling Fan, Rain Forest.

Once we came home from camping, I tested out the various sound options. I sometimes go to sleep listening to Summer Night or the Stream setting. It reminds me of our camping trips and lulls me right to sleep.

<link rel='related' href='http://www.sleepwellbaby.com' title='Have Sound Machine. I needed something to block out all the noise. I tried earplugs but they always fell out of my ears and did not mask the annoying noise. I also tried headphones and they are uncomfortable to sleep with. I needed something to help me sleep without hearing what the rest of the world was doing! I discovered Marpac Pillow speakers, a great tool for delivering quality sound that actually blocks out distracting noises and sounds.

Marpac Pillow speakers have been my sleep savior. All you need to do is slide the Marpac Pillow Speaker under your pillow (or under the sheet, directly under your pillow), connect to your sound machine, CD player, radio or TV and enjoy the sounds you choose to listen to. No longer do I hear my annoying neighbors and the yappy dogs! Marpac Pillow speakers deliver crystal clear sound and can be as loud or as quiet as you'd like. They've certainly helped improve my chances of blocking out unwanted sounds at nighttime.

A Small Light At Night

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8y90SamVfg8/Se05mepWNwI/AAAAAAAAAR0/YBtXQUx3hJ0/s200/NL044-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326977267473463042" />
A nightlight is a small light source (like a small lamp), typically attached directly to an electrical outlet, providing a dim light during the night. Many children sleep with nightlights in their rooms either as a source of comfort or a convenience for parents who don't want to stumble around in the dark.

My son does not like his room to be black or totally dark, so he sleeps with a small nightlight in his room. The Dreamy Star Automatic Nightlight has been wonderful for us. We have had it for over a year now and it works great. It features a built-in sensor that automatically turns on the light when the room gets dark and off when the room is bright. The Dreamy Star Automatic Nightlight illuminates the room with a warm, soothing glow providing a comforting light while my son sleeps. The gentle light is also great for me when I need to check on him before I go to bed. If he wakes during the night, he can rapidly get oriented to his surroundings and know that he is in the comfort of his own room.

The Dreamy Star Automatic Nightlight is a cute star shape and is ideal for the nursery, hallway, or anywhere you need a soft light.

Lovely Lavender All Night Long

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8y90SamVfg8/SeKGVAAqufI/AAAAAAAAARc/ZoaCxUH1cf4/s200/8727-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323965404843522546" />
Lavender is known for its aromatic fragrance. But did you know that it has relaxation benefits too? Recently, research has confirmed that lavender produces calming, soothing, and sedative effects. Specifically, it is said that aromatherapy with lavender may slow the activity of the nervous system, improve sleep quality, promote relaxation, and lift the mood in people suffering from sleep disorders.

Knowing this, I wanted to try a lavender scent in my bedroom to help me relax before bedtime and get a good night's sleep. I purchased the Votivo Aromatic Reed Diffuser in the Lavender Chamomile Pear scent. What a lovely surprise this turned out to be. The lavender, pear scent is wonderful. It fills my bedroom with a lingering, gentle fragrance. The scent lasts all day and will lasts for months. I have been pleasantly surprised by how soothing I have found the lingering lavender scent to be. I really feel an inner clam come over me as I settle in for the night.

I think I will try a Votivo Reed Diffuser in my kitchen. I just need to find the right scent. And since the Votivo Aromatic Reed Diffuser comes in its own beautiful gift box, I think it makes a great hostess gift.

Dreaming About A Good Night's Sleep

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8y90SamVfg8/SdfteGaH_xI/AAAAAAAAARM/UWzzIMkdOig/s200/S-650-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320982586133577490" />
Do you dream when sleep or toss and turn all night long? Can you remember the last time you slept through the entire night? If you're like many adults, you may not be sleeping well and not getting the right amount of sleep. Today's fast paced society can make sleep seem like a luxury, not a need, but this is simply not true: you need quality sleep for good health. Sleep deprivation affects your entire body and mind.

I used to dream when I slept but then I developed a bad pattern of waking, tossing, turning, worrying and not being able to get back to sleep. I had heard about white noise and sound machines working as a sleep aid to block out unwanted sounds but I wondered if there was a machine on the market to help you get to sleep. I did a lot of research and quickly discovered that natural, outdoor scenic sounds helped many adults in my position get lulled back to sleep.

I bought the Sound-Oasis Sound Therapy System S-650. It has 12 amazingly therapeutic, soothing sounds - 6 authentic nature sounds and 6 therapy sounds. All of the recordings use state-of-the-art digital sound reproduction with extra long tracks. The Sound-Oasis Sound Therapy System S-650 creates a soothing atmosphere so users fall asleep easier, get higher quality sleep, enhance concentration, and feel more alert and comfortable throughout the day!

I now go to sleep each night with my machine turned on to the Ocean Surf or Thunderstorm setting. The sounds are wonderful and soothing. I find that after only a few minutes, I am immediately more relaxed and drowsy. I rarely wake up during the night anymore and if I do, I am able to fall back to sleep quicker. It's nice to be able to dream again!

Safe, Snuggly Lullabag

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8y90SamVfg8/Sb-7XyqejWI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/pFsIBpRnkZo/s200/CB-LULLP-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314172102731795810" />
The Pointelle Cotton Lullabag has been a favorite in my household for the past 5 years. Since our first child, 5 years ago to our newest baby who is 6 months old, all three of my children have had restful, warm, safe nights in this cozy sleep snuggly.

Pediatricians recommend that babies DO NOT sleep with loose covers or blankets. With the Lullabag, covers stay in place, so using the Lullabag in place of loose bedding helps to safely reduce risk factors associated with SIDS. The Lullabag is made with breathable cotton that is subtly textured keeping your baby warm in the Fall & Winter months, yet cool in the Spring & Summer months. It has a specially designed zipper system that zips all the way around the outer edge and can zip in either direction. This allows for easy midnight diaper changes and easy on-and-off.

I like that it is cotton and machine washable. The streamlined design uses the highest quality fabrics for optimal comfort and durability. It doesn't pill and washes very well. I have had comfort knowing that my children are warm, cozy and most of all safe when they go to bed at night. The Lullabag has been in staple in my household and I can't recommend it enough.
