Nap Time – Terror Time
As your little one grows, you know that he or she still needs a nap during the day. You can tell by the way that they tend to act if their nap is missed such as crankiness, no appetite, and then they fall asleep at the dinner table. Then you are really in for it that night when bedtime comes around. Your little one is wide-awake and ready for action.
Many children as earlier as 18 months do not want to take naps any longer. They want to stay up with the action and “help” mommy or play with their older siblings that do not require naps. Nevertheless, of course, as parents you understand they still need this quiet time.
You may have tried many options to get your toddler in bed and asleep at naptime such as closing the door to his or her room, taking away all toys, and staying as firm as you when it comes to staying in bed. However, you can still hear your child out of bed, running around the room, and of course screaming at the top of their lungs. Well, you could get a set of earplugs and just let them run around until they run out of steam; however, that is not accomplishing your goal. You need your baby or toddler to get the rest he needs to grow healthy and of course be more loving after naptime.
Research has shown that with the help of a white noise machine naptime can now be a pleasant experience for both the youngster and the parents. You know how when you are in a crowd of people and you can focus on the person’s voice you are with and not hear everything else that is going on around you, well; in essence, this is how a white noise machine works. It drowns out all other noises such as the television, the neighbor mowing his lawn, and the children playing outside so your little one can drift off to sleep undisturbed.
The sound that is emitted from a white noise machine is similar to that of a fan
There is a slight difference. White noise sounds are created by using every sound audible to the human ear. This means that all the other noises will be absorbed by the white noise machine, thus creating the one voice or sound when you are in a crowd.
Not only will the white noise machine become the one sound that is prominent it is also a very comforting and soothing sound, not a loud roaring sound that you might think. It is not an annoying and deafening noise, but a quiet soft murmur that will lull your little one to sleep.
Need help at naptime then you should try a white noise machine, the answer to naptime terror. Once you begin using the white noise machine, your little one will be able to fall asleep faster, rest better, and of course, you will not have to fight them as much to get them down for a nap. However, do not expect it to work quickly, children still will not wish to take naps. You will have to stay firm on naptime and not allow them to get out of their beds, but if they do not hear all the activities going on around the home, they will fall asleep much faster.
